Pernettya mucronata is an evergreen dioecious heather plant, which modern botanists more often refer to the genus Gaulteria. Its low-growing bushes with tightly intertwined branches form thickets up to 50 cm in height. The bush is decorated with small, sharp, shiny, dark green leaves, which from May to June contrast beautifully with clusters of small bell-shaped flowers, most often white in color. But the shrub is especially attractive in the fall, when it is covered with numerous spherical fruits that do not fall until spring. Depending on the variety, the fruits may be white, purple, pink, carmine-red, bright red, burgundy and white with pink specks.
