Legend of Maple

Maple is a tree into which, according to the beliefs of the ancient Slavs, after death every person can be turned. For this reason, the maple tree is not used for firewood, for bread in the oven, they do not make a coffin out of it, etc. It was also believed that as long as the owner was alive, the maple in front of his house was stately and tall. A man dies - and with him a maple.

According to Serbian beliefs, if an innocently convicted person embraces a dry maple, the maple will turn green; if an unlucky or offended person touches it, the maple will dry.
