Playing with Photoshop

Natural or edited?

If you would have asked me a few years ago if I preferred to publish my photos natural or edited, I would have without any doubt answered: Natural! I must admit that I make some smaller adjustments when the exposure is too dark or light and so on, but no larger things. I still prefer natural photos when it comes to telling stories about places, travelling, hiking and so on. My favourite things to write about...

BUT I also enjoy playing with filters in Photoshop. Which does not mean editing like "correcting and hiding errors". For me, this is creative work and love to play with different colour matches and filters to get the picture as I prefer it.

Not all filters work with all kind of pictures/photos, I like to work a bit structured. This means I choose photos that I think will work great with some kind of filters and I'm also a bit careful when I choose colours

Beginning with a Flower against a wall in Italy

As you can see above I have used one of my quite ordinary photos. This photo makes me think of a wonderful travel we did a few years ago with some friends, to Cinque Terre in Italy. With the purpose to surprise our friends and give them a gift that reminds them of our travel and also sit as a nice picture on their wall I have been playing around for a while.

I have tried several filters and colours to get an artistic touch and also to create a picture that i like to look at.

In the two pictures below I have used the same filter, but two sets of colours (purple/white and green/pink). These pictures have a minimalists feeling, which I love:-)

I also tried some more "vivid" filters. Here I continued the green/pink colours but also tried purple/grey. You can see the result below:

Going wild

This was just a long shot, but the result of the filter used is rather cool. Framing in the picture glows in different colours and I guess this might work as a birthday card or maybe as a framed picture on a wall, or what do you think?

Plastic fantastic?

With this filter, my photo got wrapped in with plastic. I really don't like it, but some of you might? I think it looks a bit too artificial for my taste, LOL.

Please tell me which one you like the most and why. Feedback is useful for future work, I really appreciate your opinion. Is the natural photo still the best or are there situations when there is use for such filters? I might be a bit blind because I fell in love with the first filter:-)
