This 17th of December will commemorate 188 years of the death of the liberator Simón Bolívar who died in 1830 at 47 years of age in the San Pedro Alejandrino ranch, in the city of Santa Marta Colombia, and his mortal remains in the National Pantheon in Caracas, Venezuela.

During the course of his life, Bolívar, who was born in Caracas on July 24, 1783, was a freemason, military, strategist, politician and founder of the Republic of Venezuela, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador and Colombia. The Liberator Simón José Antonio of the Santísima Trinidad Bolívar Ponte and Palacios Blanco was the fourth son of Juan Vicente Bolívar and Ponte and María de la Concepción Palacios.

Bolívar is orphaned at the age of nine, his father died in 1786 and his mother raised him until 1792, the date on which he died. His care, is largely in the hands of Negra Matea de Bolívar, a slave in which belongs to the Bolívar family. Bolívar was educated by illustrious Venezuelans like the pedagogue Simón Rodríguez, with whom he linked a strong bond of friendship. He was also influenced by journalist José Antonio Negrete and Andrés Bello, illustrious men of letters. Honor and glory to the temple of Bolivar.
