The working mechanism of this deep learning algorithm is very complicated, but if it is simplified, I guess the process of playing with you is almost:

The algorithm first guesses exactly what the original image is - it's a human face or bacon - if it's a human face, then the next step is to say it's a human face.
The way to express the face is to find the high-resolution face material from the existing image gallery and cut out the part which may fit the image into a new picture.

The two steps in the process call the Conditioning Network and the Prior Network respectively.
The former first compresses the high-definition pictures in the material library into mosaic pictures and then compares them with the mosaic pictures input to the computer.
The latter predicts what the image is based on the comparison and directs PixelCNN (open source image generation model) to paste the corresponding material into place, resulting in a "HD original."
In the test, 90% of the faces of the mosaics were successfully restored, and 72% of the mosaics' bedroom images were successfully restored, which is a very amazing result for such algorithms.
