Learn to read

Familiarizing Children Reading Books received a very good response from the guardian of the students where we teach. On any given day we held a simultaneous reading in the school yard with picture books that can catch the attention of the children as they read and inspire them.
Some parents apply a learning method that leads to a system of violence. The child is forced to be able to, shout, pinched, and reviled with inappropriate words. I think it is not true because the souls of children are still weak and we should tell with affection and in a gentle way.
Faced with this kind of parent, I try to be a "Doctor" for both parties. I remind parents to be more flexible with children. There are words from my teacher that I still use today to say words like, "No child is stupid, all children born into this world are smart, maybe we just wrongly apply the method of learning to them."
Not infrequently even parents crying to hear my words. Perhaps they are sorry to have done rude things to their children.
For children who have not read fluently, I make a first approach. I let the kids know me. Be hospitable so they do not feel afraid of me. I always instill this. Children should feel comfortable learning with their teachers. I learned the character of my students. Because each child has a different character. There are children who are shy, cheerful, aggressive, whiny and so forth.
Once I know the character of each child, then I apply the appropriate learning method.

1. Create a comfortable atmosphere
   The atmosphere here does not mean to be fancy. Simple and familiar make the children comfortable learning.
2. Do not force the child to memorize the alphabet from A-Z
   Forcing children to memorize the letters from A to Z will make them bored and unfocused. Guide them to understand not memorize. Introduce children with meaningful series of letters.
3. Create creations for children interested in learning to read.
   The familiar word dial method is very effective in reading learning. For example, introduce a child with the first article: ma-ma, pa-pa, bi-bi, su-su and so on.
4. Selipkan interesting pictures and funny so they are not saturated
   I always do this. I insert funny pictures beside the writing. For example writing pa-pa, I describe the father figure with a big smile.
5. Involve them
   When describing the father figure, I often involve the children to come to finish the picture. I ask the children to smile on the father figure. Or give a mustache to make Dad look even more handsome.
6. Relations of praise and encouragement
   Children also need praise. He will be happy and excited if he gets praise from his teacher and his parents. Praise with words like this, "Wow, Adik's writing is good, it means that sister is getting smart, tomorrow writing better ... yes ... to get smarter."
   Insha Allah the children will respond to the praise as well as the spirit with a happy and happy face.
7. Keep smiling even though their work is not perfect
   Many parents are dissatisfied with the work of their children. They force the child to write neatly and well. Just imagine, once small time, our writing is also random as a chicken scratch. So, smile to see the work of our children. Everything needs a process.
   That's my way of guiding children who have not read fluently. Patience and ketelatetan are still key teachers and parents.
