My dog proved the fact that sometimes it is destructive to collect too many bones!

in #philosophy7 years ago (edited)

At the moment I have two dogs in my house. One of them, Zaira, just stole a bone from her friend and naturally, she doesn't want to give back the bone. She is now hysterically walking with that bone for 3 hours in her mouth... because she doesn't want to eat it either. She is the ultimate hoarder now. Poor Zaira cannot even sleep now because she wants to protect her (not really) bone.

that's not Zaira, I was too afraid to take a photo of Zaira

People are the same - they hoard money and then spend all the life trying to protect it instead of enjoying the life.

That is the reason why I wouldn't want to be extremely rich at the moment (or ever?). I see so many rich people not knowing how to live properly because all they can do is run around the world with their money in their mouths and try to protect it from unexisting enemies.

Full paranoia. Full insomnia. Full delusion.

Zaira could be enjoying her life at the moment and happily sleep with her owners. Instead, she chose to put herself in misery because... she is hoarding for the sake of hoarding. She cannot see clearly anymore. At the moment she is ruined by the greed. Good thing is that I can take that bone from her whenever I want and she would forget instantly. Bad thing, she is holding onto that bone too strong...

I was wondering, are you like Zaira too? I sometimes catch myself thinking about stuff I don't need too much. I sometimes forget to appreciate the beauty around me because I am focused on keeping/getting treasures.

Ain't that stupid?

Nice post!

That reminds me of the story of the monkey who saw a peanut in a jar. He wanted the peanut badly, so he put his hand in the jar to take it. But when he went to pull his hand out, he discovered that the mouth of the jar was not big enough for both his fist and the peanut at the same time. So he struggled, desperately trying to cling to a peanut, when he could have freed himself from the jar and dumped the peanut out. Greed trapped him, and he just wouldn't let go...

Great post! I understand this and think about it often. I feel that so many are out of tune with life these days, walking around aimlessly looking for more. More money, more things, and half the time they don't even know what they are looking for. Society is loosing focus and purpose and that sucks.

Perfect analogy!
