I don't think there are any paths, there is just awakening. You've tried to say something here, but as in anything one falls into, there is no leaving it until something better is seen and the courage comes to attain it...
You could get awaken no matter what path you are following, that was my point. You could even grow without any particular known path and I did talk about how people are free to choose, of course, courage is always needed to make a "harder" choice but we are choosing things all the time.
