I guess it's because we've actually lost our sense for danger. Not to be too grim, but nothing's at stake generally for certain people in everyday situations, so they really do miss some telltale signs. I'm learning everyday that my mom has her reasons for her chiding.
Yeah, we are too often softened by the world instead of sensitive to it. We have very little understanding about ourselves, let alone anyone else.
