RE: The Ethical Revolution That Never Came

in #philosophy7 years ago

Altruism doesn't seem to be based on reality. All humans want to satisfy their needs first and foremost, we all want to live life as we want. Helping others and forming tribes was the result of individuals coming together for the benefit of their own self-interest.

Sort:

Why not? I think that altruism and cooperation are fundamental forma actual development of human kind. Being cooperative, of course that ends in individual benefits, but without destroying others.

Altruism states that that individuals do things for the benefits of others, either at the expense of themselves or some sort of selfless concern. I don't think this is true. What is actually true of humanity is that we do things for ourselves which can lead to cooperation and collective benefits. Of course you have to believe in freedom or else you may think its ok to harm/control others.

Imagine you can speak a language without words. Would you be so sure about what you stand for if you couldn't foundate yourself by any physical and historical word? Altruism is just a word and True is also just a word,I really tried to point out where I am looking. There is something much more behind this historical background that we use. Even reality is based on nature which cooperates and lives together where any part of nature still find itself thinking about his won. And if we Humans pretend to be some higher purpose we need to become natured with each other and cooperate. Some of us will become one purposse which is a tribe and some others. And language will help us work somehow differently then simply killing those who stand in our purpose because they serve their purpose as well.
