You are seeing the fall of America in real time

It would be an understatement to say that I like Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails. His Year-Zero album is the musical equivalent to 1984, and I found him right before the darkest period of my life. His music is some of the deepest and most meaningful moments I’ve experienced.

As someone who considered themselves a liberal for 90% of my life, it really pisses me off to see the entirety of the liberal elite preach the election of Trump as the end of the world, the rebirth of racism and facism and the collapse of America. The collapse of America, if that’s what’s happening, has been going on for quite a long fucking time, if no one else has noticed that.

Trump didn’t usher it in, he didn’t accelerate it, the best criticism you have of Trump that’s actually real is that he’s continuing it. And I have plenty of arguments why he’s simultaneously making it worse but also in some ways trying to make it better. But at the end of the day no one really gives a fuck, no one wants to look at the situation rationally, they just want to whine that someone so ridiculous could become president.

The difference there being, America in 2016 had a choice between the most corrupt politician of the history of the world and a greedy orange idiot, and the orange one is less dangerous in the grand scheme of things because of the robustness of our democracy. But that doesn’t stop third wave feminism that’s infested our news media and blue-haired retards that think he’s the next Hitler from screeching from the rooftops about how this is the end of America as we know it, and anyone with any influence instantly capitulating to their screams because they don’t want to be #metoo’ed.

I say; you’re wrong, but even if you’re right, good. It would give our generation a chance to make something better from the ashes. That’s what our founding fathers always preached, but only when necessary. I think Hillary Clinton would have accelerated the fall of America, and I think currently Trump’s only stalling it. You can debate the minutia but let’s keep looking at the big picture.

Why is America falling from it’s top place in the world? What are the metrics we use to judge something like that? Other than our fee-fees, of course, when we turn on the news and get told “Here’s why Trump is literally Hitler, again.”

Education, standard of living, wages, poverty, immigration, GDP, personal liberty, human rights, public services. America isn’t number one in any of these categories, and they haven’t been for decades. The only thing that has remained consistent is the constant switching of leadership and the same policies being instituted by both sides. No one talks about the infinite money that gets pumped into our politics, no one takes the issue seriously. No one votes based on it, no one pays attention.

But they can sure as fuck pay attention to the lesser of two evils that was forced upon them by their messiah, Hillary. His image is repulsive to them, and it used to be like that for me as well. The entirety of the election cycle I was hopeful that someone like Bernie Sanders could beat Hillary so we could finally have someone in there to try something different than Obama or Bush.

There is only one political issue that’s destroying America, and it’s the money in politics, and say what you will about socialism, or ‘democratic socialism’, it would be nice to have someone represent the backbone of this country for once, the people who work 9-5 to make it work for all these rich liberals that use them as a political prop one day and drink champagne on balconies above them while they protest their rigging of the system on the street below the next day.

These retarded baby booming hippies that throw open the border and send every good job to China so they can cash out and lock the door behind them. And these idealistic children that follow in tow off the cliff of reality as they preach America’s position in the world is to transfer all the opportunity and wealth here to any stupid fuck that makes his way to the border. With the internet, cars and airplanes, there is no end to the amount of people that want to and are capable of coming here, and they honestly believe that the Giving Tree doesn’t have a limited number of things to actually give.

Cue them screeching about how Europeans came here before there was a border and a country to suck off of. The reality that the tyranny of unfair kings and unfair taxes as well as white indentured servitude, black slavery, liberal elites and all colored immigrants willing to work hard co-created America doesn’t click in their brains. People that show up 300 years late to the party don’t get the same opportunity because all of the opportunity that exists here now has been generated over those 300 years, and to take it away from the people who have invested their lives into this soil to people that just showed up yesterday is the definition of unfair. This is how society and citizenship works; you don’t just get handed a good life, it says “pursuit of happiness”, not “an equally distributed luke-warm plate of general acceptance to anyone that shows up”.

The United States of America is not the world’s soup kitchen. We don’t owe anything to Mexicans, Haitians, Cubans, Canadians, Africans or anyone else just because we found some success in hard work. If they want the same opportunity America has, I suggest they begin working to make their own countries better instead of avoiding the reality of that hard work and trying to subvert that and just come to somewhere where all the hard nation-building is already done for them. America has never stopped fighting wars to make that a reality, and our latest forays into that have been extremely misguided by the influence money has had on our political system. I suggest the citizens of Mexico take back their country from cartels, and stop abandoning the soil their forefathers bled for. Instead of growing resentful at America for simply getting their shit together.

But what do we get from the Edge-Lord of the 90’s himself? “We’re watching America’s fall in real time.” Yeah, we are, and it’s because of people like you saying stupid bullshit like that, as if Obama made America a utopia and Trump’s just torn it all up. Not a fucking word about the president that literally did nothing for 8 years. Mocking Trump takes the intelligence of a child, and here everybody stands taking pot-shots at the biggest target in the world as if they’re intellectual giants. No shit America’s failing, let’s look at why that is, yeah, instead of bitching about it, and bitching about how Taylor Swift won’t do your political grandstanding for you.

You love hiding behind the veil of being an artist when it comes to your personal issues, not a fucking peep about that. No interviews, no Joe Rogan podcasts, none of that. Let’s not look at Trent Reznor critically, there’s no Trent to criticize if Trent doesn’t put himself out there. Let’s just pop up, make a Guardian article about the most popular political opinion in the history of the world, and then waltz away with zero actual concern for the country or the people in it or the political system. Thanks for your fucking contribution.
