Knowledge Bombs #5 - Aristotle
Aristotle (384 BC - 322 BC) was an ancient Greek philosopher and scientist. He was a member of Plato's Academy from the age of 18 until the age of 37. Aristotle was also a tutor of Alexander the Great.
Here is Aristotle's knowledge bomb.
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.
We are what we repeatedly do. If we write every day then we are a writer. If we constantly strive to be better in every facet of our lives then that is what we become. However, we cannot do it for one day then take 7 days off and expect to achieve excellence. We must lock-in and commit to working toward our goals every day.
Greatness in any walk of life is a habit. We must program ourselves by taking action again and again because this embeds the idea in our mind and trains us to expect that we should be doing this. We all know how easy it is to fall prey to bad habits. It takes a lot more work to train ourselves to run 10 miles a day than it does to sit on the couch and eat potato chips.
There is no better time than right now to start training yourself to do the right things and form the habits that will drive us toward excellence in whatever arena we choose.
