The Totalitarian State
Imagine the Totalitarian State where either something is illegal or mandatory. It is where the State wants to have total, absolute control over every single one of it's subject's lives. It is where the choice is removed, individual choice and action is removed, and it is replaced with dogma, propaganda and violence.
In reality all States are Totalitarian in their nature, but either they don't have the resources or the opportunity to unleash their evil goals. To understand this, you have to look at the State at what it is, it is the "coldest of all cold monsters".
And as any monster, it's primary goal is to survive. It would love to enslave everyone and have total control over it, after all that is it's purpose, but it might not have the opportunity to do that just yet. It might never have it, after all no entity can be king of the jungle forever, but it surely as hell it tries so hard to do it.
We know now past examples of Totalitarian States like that of the Nazis or the Soviets, and we know exactly what they did and how atrocious their behavior was. Especially how Hitler ordered the speedup of the Holocaust in the final months of WW2 just out of desperation and diverted military resources in order to do it.
That is how a Totalitarian State behaves when it is cornered and it's facing it's end, it goes crazy and inflicts as much violence and atrocity as possible on it's innocent victims as possible.
This is the nature of the beast, it wants to inflict as much destruction and violence as possible, and if it can't do it while it is in power, it will do it when it is cornered, and it will release it's inner most evil all at once. Hitler revealed this to the world.
Propaganda
It's funny but also sad that the State tries to make Anarchists look like the violent rioters throwing molotov-cocktails. But in reality it's the State that is the tip of the spear when it comes to violence. Ranging from the police brutality to endless genocides and wars committed by various States across all human history.
It's almost as if the State tries to hide behind a boogeyman, while it it makes it look like ordinary peaceful people are in fact the violent ones, or they provoke them to be violent through agent provocateurs and such...
On the other hand if a society becomes peaceful, then the State loses it's power, because every single "service" that the State provides is based on violence or the threat of violence.
So the State must induce fear into the population and constantly figure out new ways to subjugate it's subjects once the old ways become rusty. The Church was the best method in the past 2000 years to do this, it's was a total brainwashing operation coupled with authoritarian indoctrination and wishful thinking to fool the sheep into the riches that they will get in the afterlife, but just have to give up all their property, or at least 50% of it in their real life.
The Church is fading away. Good riddance. But new ways have emerged now, the Government Schooling system is an obvious one, 12 or even 16 years of brainwashing. And then the control of the media and culture by inducing the population into a zombie State. It might be a lot worse than the Church, so people might want to bring back the Church to counter the effects of the new propaganda system, but it's a false dichotomy. They are both wrong, so this just makes people fight over 2 bad sides.
Lack of Choice
One of the most obvious characteristics of a Totalitarian State is that choice is removed. It's the State that chooses things and set's policy, and it's the subjects that obey. So there isn't even individual thought, only the ruling class can think freely, everyone else must obey.
So a fully grown Totalitarian State can be recognized by either making everything illegal or mandatory, and there is no room left open. The law books get thicker than the diameter of the Planet, and every single aspect of our lives will have some sort of legislation, regulation or prohibition attached to it.
There will be no aspect of life, I don't care how tiny or insignificant, that will not have legislation on it.
- Oh you want to comb your hair a certain way? Go look up Regulation 32325 about that....
- Oh you want to eat your cereals with a 2 inch spoon, rather than a 3 inch spoon? Get a permit in order to do that legally...
- Oh you want to wear a red bowtie in Sunday? Sorry, on Sundays everyone must wear a yellow stripped tie, no exceptions, breaking this regulation means a 10,000$ fine or up to 5 years in prison...
Do you think this is crazy? Just wait and see, the law books get thicker each year, and after they finished the works on obvious major legislations, they will have nothing left to do.... So what the Government will just go away after they finished legislating all major issues? Of course not, they will go after stupid minor stuff like this.
And how will they enforce it? Easy, cameras and microphones inside every house, they already have that, it's called a : Smartphone. They will just program an AI that will surveill every citizen 24/7, and detect illegal activity, the fine will automatically be mailed to you, and the “Robocop” will also come to your door to "gently escort you" to Jail.
Conclusion
So as you can see as bad as Hitler and Stalin was, what they did to oppress individuals was tiny compared to what could happen in the future if this technology and madness runs amok.
It's not just that the Government might sent people into "detention camps", it's that they might force you to have a brainchip implanted into your mind, and they will control your thoughts remotely, and for every illegal thought you get electrocuted.
That is the absolute scary thing, just pure total Orwellian tyranny. And they already started chipping people:

Technocracy and the Agenda 21 is the future Totalitarian State. They use the socialism/communism dialectic to manipulate the mass and put in a jail the opposition to slavery, why? because the people don't care about the present. Excellent post!
Fortunately (or terrifyingly unforunately) this time people will all be talking to each other. When people start disappearing, it will be known quite soon across the interwebs.

And a new breed is coming into being. One that disbelieves everything. One that laughs in the face of authority. One that has no stake in the old system. They will never own a house, have a career, etc... so, if it all burns down, all the better for roasting marshmallows.
Yes I tend to compare that to how the Nazis divided and conquered the Jewish population by telling them lies about the camps, spreading rumors, heck they even made documentaries about it to ensure that nothing bad will happen there.
It's just so disgusting it makes me sick. If they would have known ahead what will happen, they would have fought hard.
In fact they did later, heroic Jews have stood up against the Nazis after things became desperate, and they fought back very hard, and almost defeated them, even though they were outnumbered 50:1
Denialism can also be a kind of mind control. Many stupid people deny the Holocaust or they believe in Flath Earth or other kind of absurdities.
Total disbelief is not a good strategy, the truth is always under a mountain of deception, sometimes some things are true even if they come from an untrustworthy source, sometimes things are false if they come from a trustworthy source. So I guess people just have to research things of their own and compare the evidence.
That is nice. Escaping the system is currently the most liberating thing. Cryptocurrencies might play a big role in that.
I agree, the complete and total destructive denialism is bad. It is not a good place to go. It is not a path I would recommend. But, it has happened by the dumbing down of the population.
You can reason with an intelligent man, or appeal to the greater good.
The problem with dumbing down the population, is that you lose that appeal to the greater good.
They govern-cement has sewn its own destruction.
This new group is there. And they will be hell on the control grid.
Sadly as you say all states are like this some just with less success and power to be totalitarian.
Just look at USA the "land of the free" there are more laws in this country than any other in the history of the world!
More licenses, regulations and permits too. Its ridiculous especially when they try the propaganda of "freedom" hahahahahahhahaa
