Topics for Teens
I have been having discussions with some teenage relatives lately, trying to introduce them to concepts and philosophies they may not be exposed to in school. Since there are more kids I will be doing this with in the future, I am using this space to catalog a list of those topics. If you have any suggestions for topics you think are good to expose teens to, please let me know!
- Understanding Logical Fallacies
- Most topics on You Are Not So Smart. Especially the older ones like The Sunk Cost Fallacy and Learned Helplessness
- Healthy Financial Habits. For young people I like Minority Mindset and the Financial Diet YouTube channels. My brother is a fan of the ideas of Dave Ramsey. All offer good ideas.
- Separating Feelings from Decisions. This is my go-to on that topic- I love you, nbd.
- Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs
- Understanding the source and effects of ACE points in one's self and peers.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy
- How to Research Topics
- Dressing for Success in Life
- Following Sustainable and Green Practices
- Cooking For Yourself
- Growing Your Own Food
- Understanding Body Language
- Setting Boundaries in Relationships
- Internet and Information Security
- Peaceful Parenting
- Unschooling

Adding this series of lectures from Stanford on human behavior.
Adding the topic of "Understanding Risk". Being able to evaluate risk and discern between perceived and actual risk, and then break down actual risks to subjective and objective risk. Include a personal risk assessment.
Also add in the philosophy of 100 pennies of focus.
