An exercise in logic
If I were to tell you that at any given time, most of the world can be wrong about something, you might doubt me. But let me use religion to prove my claim, and this is not an attack on religion I assure you. If you were to ask anyone with faith who the real God is they will tell you that theirs is, and in most cases will have a book which proves it. If one of them is correct, then the rest of the world must be wrong about their beliefs, and anyone since the dawn of man who differed was also wrong. So think for yourself about things and forget world opinion since the world may be wrong.
What if they are all talking about the same God, only they do not realize it because they each call it by a different name?
Argument: There is an objective God and then there is the subjective experience of God. The objective God does not change but the subjective God does. So even though each individual explains God in a different way, they are in fact each discussing the same thing. ??
Thats a hard sell considering that many religions have multiple gods, like the Romans and Greeks.
Do the Romans and Greeks still believe in many Gods? You are referring to empires that have since fallen away. I believe Italy's predominant religion is Christianity now. I'm not religious so I do not actually know.
I think that monotheism is the general practice around the world though I am sure that some groups still believe in many gods - Hinduism I think?
Anyway, I was just trying to pose a question to see if it would lead to anything deeper.
Thank you Leaky, I'm not religious either but rebuttals make you think. My blog was to make people examine their beliefs in anything that was tossed at them .
yes. I understood that and agreed with what you were saying. I was actually just trying to get you to question your own statements as well lol :)
