I love that Bill Cosby quote. I think there's a step before not trying to please anyone, and that is even realising that you are actually doing that. When i really started to see this in my self, we all do it, and realise that it was definitely one reason i was experiencing so much misery, i realised that social media is all about validation, and that's the only reason i use it. Most people don't even realise that that is what they are doing, i have tried to talk to a couple of friends about this and have been met with comments like 'you're so serious! lighten up!' or 'not everything is a conspiracy you know'.

Then i can be out eating lunch and every one of them is glued to facebook, or we've gone to a concert and they've filmed most of it to post onto social media, we are like children again, who always want to please their parents and look for approval, we are seeking this elsewhere and it's so new, we don't know the impacts this will have on us long term.
