Philosophy: Knowing The Difference Between Knowledge And Wisdom.steemCreated with Sketch.

The differences solved

Many individuals mistake knowledge for wisdom because they're intimately related, and that is sad because they're quite different in an essential way. Knowledge is the deposition of facts and info. Wisdom is just the synthesis of knowledge and experience in information that deepen one knowledge of associations and the meaning of living. Put simply, knowledge is just a tool, and wisdom is just the art wherein the tool is used.

If one understands this distinction, she or he will also appreciate why it's vital to properly distinguish between the two. With the Internet, it's now relatively simple for a reasonably diligent person to rapidly become educated in virtually any field of her or his choosing.

Whether it's utilized for good or ill depends completely on the wielder. Sadly, history is a long record of the harms wrought by educated, well meaning individuals who lacked wisdom. In comparison to knowledge, wisdom is usually considered to be morally good. Why is this the case? Einstein once said, Wisdom isn't a product of schooling, but of the lifelong attempt to acquire it.

Bring forth the lengthy process

Such a process is just lengthy and arduous, which teaches the pursuer tolerance and humility. When one finally discovers a connection or insight that she or he believes to be universally applicable truth, it frequently inspires awe akin to a spiritual experience.

Knowledge comes, but wisdom lingers, wrote Alfred, Lord Tennyson. Truths stay with an individual for the rest of her or his life, coloring all subsequent ideas and actions. Wisdom requires no law or threat of consequence to assure compliance. The specialist usually feels a strong compulsion to obey her or his own beliefs.

The clever can still fall prey to rumors and questionable moral behaviour being flesh and blood like all of us however, if one tracks such data, the chances of these deficiencies are likely to be very small when compared to the general population. Society esteems the clever for their virtuosity and for their rarity.

Thank you for acknowledging all my hard work -thank you - thank you :)

Thanks @riostarr - I tried to keep it short and as #nuggetized as possible!

What a great morning read. I would love to hear more of your perspective on such things.
A long version would be most welcomed read.
Resteemed.

I tend to work on the shorter #nuggetized format. Thanks for the RS @girlbeforemirror. For more of my philosophy works just Google search: @mindhunter philosophy - lots to read there too :)) Steem on!

Interesting quotes I read some years ago about knowledge and wisdom and I didn't forget.
Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens. - Jimi Hendrix

The growth of wisdom may be gauged exactly by the diminution of ill temper. - Friedrich Nietzsche

Science is organized knowledge. Wisdom is organized life. - Immanuel Kant

You just can't beat the great philosophers @charlie777pt :)

"Wisdom isn't a product of schooling, but of the lifelong attempt to acquire it." Interesting quote. In other words, to live within openness and humbleness, always investigating all things to ensure that we consider all dimensions before we act and thus limit potential harmful consequences of our actions. Thanks for the pleasant read!

Thanks @kimamourette - live the good lifelong attempt!! :))

There are lots of definitions regarding wisdom, this one is my favorite.

To be knowledge-able about wisdom or have wisdom about knowledge?
That's not the question...

I've met many clever stupid people and many stupid clever people ;) Steem on @virtualgrowth!

Such a great blog post I think everyone can relate to this! More and more people are becoming well educated so knowledge increases everywhere, but the wisdom is being able to use that knowledge to help yourself or others making a more rounded person. Not many people have both of these traits but across history you can see it in bucket loads 😊
Thank you for the post

There are many clever stupid people and stupid clever people in this life ;)

Haha I totally agree there, clever people seem to lack common sense too which makes them look not so clever out of an educational environment 😂

It's quite a clever sentence and I rather like it. I now categorise people into it as I've never met one finely balanced individual ;) Ha ha!

I think these individuals numbers are decreasing or even possibly extinct already 😂 I must be the last one 😉 obviously hahahaha
