Hegel Has Inspired Many Philosophers, But Why?

A true inspiration

I can't think of my many philosophers who don't find some kind of inspiration in Hegel. The majority of them are motivated to reject the diluted position that Hegel takes in Phenomenology for example. There are some exceptions to the rule where philosophers would show real interest and dive in to indulge the work (Alain Badiou comes to mind) as well as using the themes presented to further their own work.

Postmodernism

Postmodernists are accused of telling Hegel that he suppressed many differences in his work to produce a united more uniform structure to the plethora of his ideas. Pragmatists have also accused Hegel of confusing idealism for his own good.

On the flip side of being overawed by ideas, Hegel's Phenomenology is a work of art based on an empirical work. Hegel was trying to work out how self evolving ideas could explain the world that we see at large (doppelsatz).
