freeorder — a brief introduction

in #philosophy7 years ago

freeorder expresses the idea that orders arising from venture & freedom work best for everyone who is intent on using their full powers of imagination, reason, and action in pursuit of their own happiness, and in service to people and things they love.

freeorder welds together free & order so that a fundamental connection is implied, and so that they may never again be separated.

freeorder is a simple word useful precisely because it names something complex and emergent, comprising usually invisible interactions between things that seem today to have nothing in common, but that in the future will be understood to have shared elements of great potency.

Here is another definition of freeorder, one that implicitly embeds a conjecture: a balance among designed and spontaneous orders that serves quest. -see F. A. Hayek's Law, Legislation and Liberty, chapter 2, "Cosmos and Taxis" for fundamental concepts, including an excellent definition of order.

Charles Morgan, at the end of his essay, “Serenity”: “Now let us consider other great words that are sick. ‘Order’, for example. Why has it become dissociated from ‘Liberty’? Or ‘Beauty’. By the conspiracy of what guttersnipes has it been drawn into contempt?” —"Serenity," an essay by Charles Morgan, in his The Writer and his World: Lectures and Essays (London: Macmillan, 1960)
