That Damn Box
What a foolish statement!
Forever we have been told to Think Outside The Box... for success. For the brain dead it sounds so philosophical and appealing, yet it is a horrendous trap.
It is a crutch (otherwise known as) a lazy individual. Instead of conversing with language the user resorts to a colloquialism to support a lesson they are about to spew forth, (like there isn't enough spewing already). It lacks intelligence, consideration, effort or ingenuity.
Furthermore it is #hyper-hypocritical.
If someone is using this "expression" in an attempt to help another with their worldly knowledge, they just proved that they are stuck in a box with no other way of communicating their genius. To not be able to articulate the needed thoughts (proven by using thus stale "Figure of Speech"), indeed proves they are firmly stuck in their own box.
If by this statement it is meant to say; to get out of the norm... to achieve success, it is also way wrong.
Success does not...
Need to be outside the norm. There have been many great innovations, inventions and processes that merely refined what already existed (inside the damn box).
And what about that "BOX", couldn't that be re-invented of modified from within or without? The Box is really a useful item why not build another more important, different or better box?
Really in this new dawning age of technology and awakening of the "Individual" why retain a box at all?

Success or accomplishment is not a one directional paradigm.
Think to refine or advance what is inside the box.
Think to dream of things yet to be outside the box.
Think to re-design the box, as has occurred many times already and yet to be.
But do not limit yourself to only one old saying, think of new ways to communicate and develop.
If we keep using old language to create the future we only fight ourselves.

I have to agree with @everittdmickey. What have you got against thinking outside standard parameters. How was it that a policeman invented the diving bell? Getting out of one's comfort zones is a healthy exercise to be embraced by all.
