You know, first thing this morning I found myself reading a post about incometaxes on @leroy.linientreu 's blog... Every now and then I do wonder, how the reform in 1891 - 1893 was carried out by Franz Miquel - but let's get some potatoes from the cellar first - we have to get some preparation for lunch on the way here! Would you go and fetch them? Great! Take Annabelle - she's starting to sprout!

Weißt du, heute morgen habe ich als erstes einen Betrag über Einkommensteuer auf @leroy.linientreu 's Blog gelesen... Ich frag mich ja immer mal wieder, wie die Reform 1891 - 1893 von Franz Miquel damals eingetütet wurde... aber lasst uns erstmal Kartoffeln aus dem Keller holen - wir müssen die Vorbereitungen fürs Mittagessen auf den Weg bringen! Würdest du welche raufholen? Großartig! Nimm Annabelle - die fängt an zu keimen!

She's an early kind, I mean Annabelle, and this Franz Miquel was the first of his kind in a way... Well, the first to implement incometaxes here at least. Here, take a knife and help me peel the potatoes...

Ist eine frühe Sorte, ich meine Annabelle, und dieser Franz Miquel war der erste seiner Sorte in gewisser Weise... Nun, zumindest der erste der die Einkommensteuer hier eingeführt hat. Hier, nimm dir ein Messer und hilf mir beim Kartoffelschälen...

Was he German? Well, I don't really know... you see, things were different back then... there was Bismarck and Wilhelm and... some sources say Miquel's family came from France, others say Spain, but there is no familytree or names of his ancestors. There is one of his wife though, haha - Emma Charlotte Wedekind.... Ah, see we're done peeling - just amazing how fast things get finished when you do them together, isn't it ;-)

Ob er Deutscher war? Nun, weiß ich gar nicht so genau... schau, damals waren die Dinge ja anders als heute.... also da gab es Bismarck und Wilhelm und... einige Quellen sagen seine Familie kam aus Frankreich, andere sagen Spanien, aber es gibt gar keinen Stammbaum oder Namen seiner Ahnen. Gibt es aber alles von seiner Frau, haha - Emma Charlotte Wedekind ... Ah, wie fein, wir sind fertig mit dem Schälen - unglaublich wie schnell die Sachen erledigt sind, wenn man sie gemeinsam schafft, nicht wahr ;-)

In a way things have not changed really, have they - I mean concerning the question about names and backgrounds... Look, I harvested some last broccoli and califlower yesterday - you just finish your tea and I'll wash the veggies...

In gewisser Weise hat sich da nicht nicht wirklich viel verändert - ich meine bezogen auf die Fragwürdigkeit von Namen und Herkunft.... Schau, ich hab gestern den letzten Brokkoli und Blumenkohl geerntet - trink du mal deinen Tee und ich wasche schnell das Gemüse...

Kinda funny with all the stuff around Obamas names, haha - yap, I know what you mean - same soup on the other side with Putin, haha.... here, I'll quickly dice the other half of the pumkin - didn't need it for the risotto and now it will be a nice addition on today's table - mashed-up!

Schon witzig diese ganzen Dinge rund um Obamas Namen, haha - Jaja, ich weiß was du meinst - gleich Suppe auf der anderen Seite mit Putin, haha .... hier, ich schnippel noch eben den halben Kürbis von gestern - wurde beim Risotto nicht alles gebraucht und ich doch heute eine schöne Bereicherung auf dem Tisch - gestampft!

And then this Kasner - Merkel - Sauer thing - but on the other hand... maybe it was only out of marketing-issues... I mean Sour with this face, bawhaaha.... Well, you are right - the Merkel - Ferkel (piglet) rhyme is not really making things better at all.... Just get the meat from the fridge and let's get rolling here...

Und dann diese Kasner - Merkel - Sauer Sache - aber andererseits.... vielleicht ist das ja wirklich nur eine Marketing-Angelegenheit... Ich meine Sauer mit dem Gesicht, bawhaaha... Nunja, auch richtig - der Merkel - Ferkel Reim macht die Sache keinen Deut besser.... Reich mir doch bitte mal das Fleisch aus dem Kühlschrank rüber und lass uns hier in die Pötte kommen...

Doesn't it just seem as if they are all acting anyway? ... I mean really like actors in a theatre - so, well I guess than it is reasonable to have names - What? OH, great - Lunch is ready... Come and eat everybody!

Sieht es nicht eh so aus als ob die alle schauspielern? ...Ich mein, also wirklich so wie Schauspieler im Theater - also, nundenn, dann wäre das ja sogar angebracht Namen zu haben - Was? OH, großartig - Essen ist fertig... kommt alle zu Tisch!

Ahhhh, that was delicious! I'm full - how about a nice cup of tea now! Want one, too? Here ya go :-) You know, when I went to school I had to memorize all our Presidents and Chancellors - and then recite them to the teacher.... Myohmy, I was so proud of myself for being able to do that... Those were the days, my friend... Hey remember that song? Let's sing!

Ahhhh, das war lecker! Ich bin satt - wie wäre es jetzt mit einer schönen Tasse Tee! Magst du auch einen? Hier, bitte schön :-) Weißt du, als ich zu Schule ging mussten wir alle Präsidenten und Bundeskanzler auswenig lernen - und sie dann vor dem Lehrer aufsagen... Meiohmei war ich stolz auf mich selbst als ich das geschafft hab... Das waren noch Zeiten, mein Freund... (Those were the days, my friend...) ... Hey, erinnerst du dich noch an das Lied?
