DEMIGODS?

It is described that the universe is not simply impersonal energy. That there is consciousness everywhere.

"The demigods, being pleased by sacrifices, will also please you; thus nourishing one another, there will reign general prosperity for all." Bhagavad Gita As It Is 3.11

There are other planets. Higher planets and lower planets. The administrators of universal affairs reside on the upper planets, which are really quite nice. Being highly placed entities with big management responsibilities their living facilities are quite accommodative. Their life span also is much longer... Six months on earth is one day on the upper planets. This and much more is described in great detail in the Srimad Bhagavatam an ancient Vedic text.

These sacrifices to the demigods are performed in formal ceremonies...not bloody, messy ones..more like offering valuable things to the priests who keep what they need and then distribute the rest to the people in general. Something like paying taxes. Everything is supplied for everyone for all success in life.

The topmost sacrifice means making the offerings to the Supreme Being who not only sees to it that everything is supplied for successful life but that the platform of transcendence is accessed in preparation for leaving the material world altogether. Returning back to the spiritual sky.

At the present time elaborate superficial ceremonies are not recommended. The sacrifice recommend for this time is chanting of the Holy Names of God and to practice offering vegetarian foods to the Supreme Being. By eating foods prepared and offered to God first the consciousness becomes purified.
