Peusijuek philosophy

At the level of ordinary people, peusijuek is only an ordinary customary routine activity, believed must be carried out. Most Aceh people do not understand the content or meaning of the peusijuek procession. Usually the peusijuek procession is performed by an elderly person or deemed to have advantages in society, such as a Tengku (ustadz), or Umi Chik. (Ustadzah), an elderly woman who mastered the science of religion). Only those who do peusijuek usually, because them understand the purpose and prayers which readed in peusijuek. There is no cadre of people who do peusijuek, and more and more difficult to find people who really understand the way peusijuek and know the symbolic meanings of peusijuek. There are three important elements of peusijuek, first materials used, from leaves, grass, rice, flour, water, sticky rice and tumpoe (in Aceh language). Both movements performed when dipeusijuek, third, the prayers are read according to peusijuek event, and the four teumutuek (giving money). The materials used in peusijuek vary according to the activities of peusijuek.

Materials that used in peusijuk

Materials that are often used include: (1) Foliage andgrass, symbolizes harmony, beauty, and harmony and is bound together as a symbol of strength. (2) rice and rice, symbolizing fertility, prosperity and prosperity. (3) water and flour symbolize patience and tranquility. (4) sticky rice, as a glue, a symbol of brotherhood.

The movements in peusijuek procession

The movement during peusijuek procession is very unique, this movement almost resembles movement in the worship ritual in Hinduism. However, this movement occurs only following the direction of splashing water from left to right and from right to left and occasionally crossed. Many Tengku argue that the existence of peusijuek rituals with worship practices in Hinduism does not mean that peusijuek is a Hindu ritual. Because the ritual itself is very different both in terms of goals, ways, and content of peusijuek.

Prayers which readed during peusijuek

The prayers read at peusijuek are safety prayers, both in Arabic and in Aceh. Prayers are usually adapted to the moment of peusijuek. The prayers ask for salvation, peace and the ease of rizki from Allah (God).

Teumetuek (giving money) in the procession of peusijuek

Teumetuek (giving money) is done after all the procession peusijuek. usually who do peusijuek provide envelopes containing money, and followed by relatives also give money to the dipeusijuek. This usually occurs in peusijuek marriage, prospective pilgrims (calon jama'ah haji) and circumcision.
