I think this is probably true in pieces. When I think about my thought processes it may be different depending on the situation. Some situations may be a blend of these two thought processes. For example, when presented with something new (such as this) I tend to be curious but skeptical at the same time. It may take some time to fully process the idea presented so the different thought processes may change in priority as processing continues.
