RE: Sightings from the future: the society that awaits us, with AIs and robots.

nope.
there's a reason humans are no smarter than they are
we've been at this same level for perhaps a quarter million years.
ever wonder why that is?

Note: brain size ain't it.
elephants and whales have bigger brains than us.
and crows have more powerful neurons than us.
and yet...humans are the smartest critters on the planet.

wonder why that is?

Sort:

Probably having more synapses, more neurons connected.

then why not crows or whales?
crows have denser more effective neurons than us
whales have MORE of them
neither one build computers.
why not?

I will go with my answer. We have more synapses and more connections in our brain.

but we don't
whales do in total
crows do per cubic area.

We can see patterns and predict future outcomes better than any other race, the best humans at that are the most successful ones.

Now, why are we better predicting patterns, I believe our brains are better.

What causes them to be better, I am not quite sure.

exactly...but whales have bigger brains..and crows have better ones...and yet we are MUCH smarter than they are...and we don't know why.
so

HOW

do you expect us to make something smarter than we are if we don't even know why we are smart?

We have already created things that are better than us, because they calculate things much faster than us. Our computers.

The capacity of processing and interpreting information faster makes a being smarter.

Therefore, synthetic beings will evolve exponentially while us organic beings evolve super slowly. Our future is digital. If we have a future... and I think we do.

cute...you've danced around my questions.
but that's ok.
it's pretty scary to think about.

I guess it is the result of humans adapting to new environments. If you look at whales, they stayed in the sea looking pretty much the same for the past few million years.

Of course, we run ito the chicken-and-egg problem. However, not many organisms had the ability to adapt to the life outside the ocean, fewer survived the climate changes (the climate doesn't change very much underwater), and humans adapted even further through the agricultural and industrial revolutions.

Conclusion:

Human intelligence is superior because throughout the history, humans appeared in most situations where they had to adapt to survive, which further enhanced their ability to predict new situations.
