Double Standards: The Convenient Lie

in #philosophy7 years ago

In watching what is accepted and what is not accepted in the world today it is possible to observe a lot of cases in what is known as a double standard. I would argue that you can look at lies to see who is truly in power, and who the true "establishment" is.

Why do I say this?

If you look for lies and who is lying it is likely you'll find certain people who their lies are brushed aside, defended, and not pursued. They are quickly shushed up or passed off as being absurd that people are even talking about it.

Then you can see someone who is lying and comparatively what they are lying about can be far less than the one that was excused, and the media, and the law will go against them like it is the most extreme thing to ever happen.

This is a double standard.

It basically illustrates that it is okay to lie as long as that lie is convenient to supporting the agenda and narrative the "establishment" wishes to exist.

If it opposes that narrative, or agenda then it is a HUGE and HORRIBLE thing regardless of how trivial the lie is.

It can go further than this. If it supports the agenda and narrative of the "establishment" then they will refer to someone as a liar simply because they changed their mind, or did not know something. They conveniently conceal the FACT that this does not make it a lie. People change their mind in response to new knowledge frequently. You can call the person ignorant, or naive, but there is no evidence of a lie in such a case. A lie requires knowing what you are stating is NOT TRUE and stating it anyway. It's pretty simple. That is all a lie is. Yet, it is convenient to conflate ignorance, naivete, and LEARNING NEW THINGS to making a person a liar. At least if it supports the desired narrative.

I intentionally gave no specific examples in this article. I did not point fingers at anyone. I simply wanted to state this observation and share another thing I was thinking about today. I call this the "convenient lie". You can easily look all around the world right now and see these things yourself, there is no need for me to point fingers.

it s realy nice post and i liked it

The piece that has been getting me lately, is the not proved enough, therefor its a lie.

You need to provide 7 peer reviewed, main stream studies that support your assertion or you are a liar and everything you said has to be thrown out.

Yet if all the peers collude together then they become gatekeepers that censor the truth. Quantity does not make a thing true of not true. Billions of people disbelieving something does not make it FALSE. Billions of people believing something does not make it true.

Peer reviewed has failed many times in history. Democratic process does not DEFINE Truth.

For me an example of what you are describing is the NEWS in general. The NEWS basically twists information to push the agenda of the person who owns the NEWS station or the ideology of the audience that it panders to.

What would life be good when everyOne has a Pinokkio nose

Double standards in this sort of thing is literally my pet-peeve. I just truly, to my heart, dislike it! I agree with all your points, and especially appreciate you not giving any specific examples. No pointing fingers!

Main reason why I quit watching TV!

Thinkpol: They condemn you not for lying or telling the truth, that is irrelevant, they condemn you for giving an opinion that is alien to they want you to think about.

To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize.
