Decentralising Kant

Act only according to that maxim whereby you can, at the same time, will that it should become a universal law. - Immanuel Kant

Or if you like,

There was a movie I watched. Can't remember the movie name or what was about, but I will always remember that intro. It was about a father of teenage girl, and the intro goes: “She is depressed, thinks all the world is against her. I would like to help and tell her it will pass, but I don’t want to lie to her” :)

This aims to be a “toughs sharing” for novices (I still consider myself one) not to give up on Steemit.

This place, is an anarchy at its best. It will showcase the worst human nature, and the most beautiful one. Nothing you are not going to see in the ‘real world’ behind the fake smiles, with the huge difference. No reasons for phony smiles here, as ppl are anonymous. Take it as a great opportunity to learn about human nature at its best and worst.

Yesterday price drop of SDB to about $3 USD was a great opportunity to spend some Fiat and become “someone important” here. I decided not to do so, and encourage you not to do so. Not because it’s not worth investing. Simply so you can tell one day that you managed to deal with all of good and bad, and build a reputation out of your capability.

Here are some things you should be prepared your nerves for, with advices on how to approach them.

  • Once you start as a total newbie, the first category you are going to meet with are people with absolute lack of ethical norms. If you expect to discuss Categorical imperative here, rest assured you are long way to go unless you get close to people who knows who Immanuel Kant is. The good news, there are such people here, and some better news - they are very successful, but that comes latter on.

  • You are going to meet with bots and people who are going to post comments on how awesome your posts are whatever you do. As you advance, you are going to notice number of comments of “your awesomes” is too long, while you actually have few upvotes earning 0.1 or so. How nasty. This is where some people give up, and some other chose to embrace the “dark side of the force”. The second category relatively easy forms into groups to support each other, and no-one else. Their rules are relatively strict. What you give, you get back. Basically, behaving the same way that lead us to invent a blockchain so we don’t behave same. (Read governments, politics etc.).

Don’t get frustrated. They are not here to make the future, but to make money. Ignore them. Mute them. Move forward. Don’t get into any sort of arguing, as not only they are not going to help you, it’s no strange they are going to hurt you.

  • As you advance, become ‘somewhat’ influential, the next thing you are going to notice is people who upvote you with 1% of their voting power. Usually, a sort from “the dark side”, or what is left of them and manage to get some influence. Logically, now they are using that influence hoping you don’t understand what they are doing. You see their upvote, follow them, wish to “return a favour” by following and up voting them with 100% of your power. Then you open up their feeds, and see they are upvoting literally hundreds of posts that way. Rest assured they did not bother to read what you wrote.

They are abusing your good nature to make a profit. Don’t get frustrated here, and keep the good work. Very few of them are going to manage to claim on top, as at some point they do confront each other. Or get into real life troubles. As simply as that, money can’t buy happiness, so most of them are going to end up frustrated and eat each other. Ignore them.

  • Still trying to make it? Great. You are actually going to find some ‘silent supporters’ sooner or later (read, normal people). Influential people who boost your posts into trending topics. Why they are doing that? Because it’s logical thing to do. They are aware that to protect their investment, the platform needs to stay healthy. In order for something to retain value, it needs to produce value. By investing in You, they invest in quality content. So you can actually get here, read something interesting. What would be the price of SDB if we all post bulshits, make clans, upvote each other and spam new accounts for profit. Zero.

Do your best, act as a reasonable human, share your thoughts inspire and get inspired by others. If you manage to build influence to some level, return to community by helping newcomers build their own. Pick wisely. Make friends.

You can’t be happy if people around you are not happy. Just like in real life. Start acting anonymously the very same way you would be acting face to face to ensure your stay on the bright side of the force, make some money too, ensure that currency worth something and make this place worth visiting.

Second Proof of Idiot :)

@andy00764 posted spam post few seconds after I published this. After being marked, he flagged the post. Instead of learning something (not to spam), he wanted to cause a damage.

By investigating forward, @andy00764 seems to be a fork of @akumar :) Same day after account creation, @akumar sends 3.500 SBD to @andy00764 without any note, so that @andy00764 can spam people by sending 0.001 SBD transactions with Memo promoting his services :)

But then moving forward, we have @mishakhan93 who upvotes @andy00764 exactly 30 seconds after his first post ever :)

Well written, I wish I saw this post earlier so I could upvote it altough my vote isn't worth much :) But you explained things very simple for everyone, especially us newbies.

Hello Tamara. Thanks, I'm glad you like the post. Have a great time around. Pozdrav, i uspesnu karijeru zelim :)

This should be a sticky on Steemit frontpage :)

Written with better english probably :)

I put hopes in "release stress" game based on "Billboard Top Charts of Spam accounts". Working on identification patterns and visualization script :) You would be surprised on interconnections made.

If nothing, a nice exercise in Big Data analysis.
