If All Socks Were Orange Socks
This morning I happened to notice my daughter’s bright orange socks, and naturally I started thinking about equality of outcome, narcissism, socialism, entitlement, and reality. My daughter is ten, so I wrote this.
If All Socks Were Orange Socks
My socks are orange socks
They’re my favorite you see
What if all socks were orange socks
How great would that be
If all socks were orange socks
There’d be no red, green, or blue
If all socks were orange socks
You’d have my favorite socks too
If all socks were orange socks
There’d be nothing to lose
If I lost an orange sock
I’d take one from you
If all socks were orange socks
I’d be happy as can be
But my friend’s socks are purple socks
And socks are not about me
