Forcing positivity is self-abuse, and How to harness your innate positivity ??

in #philosophy6 years ago

Positivity is the attitude that keeps us on-track, makes us able to proceed in our endeavours and gives us the resilience to move on; however, unauthentic positivity is nothing but self-abuse.

While positivity is natural, negativity is acquired:

Positivity is an innate approach to life. As a child there were not limits to what you can do. Obstacles didn’t feel that heavy and strong. Life was a sprawling playground to practice everything your heart desires. You didn’t care what others do, look or say. This had been your positivity before you ever taught about negativity, judgment, failure and before life started to feel heavy.

Negativity is a consequence of:

We can group the reasons of negativity to either of being around negative people, over-thinking old mistakes, holding to excessively high standards, comparing yourself with others, comparing your circumstances with others’, trying to excel in something that doesn’t resonate with you, perfectionism, high expectations, and judgment of yourself and others.

Forcing positivity is self-abuse:

There is huge difference between being originally positive and forcing yourself to feel positive while having negative emotions or thoughts.

Emotions are forms of energy that you feel within. While practicing the above mentioned causes of negativity we create more of it. The created energy is part of who you are. Rejecting a part of you causes more pain than original pain itself. Suppressing your negative emotions gives them more power over you.

Faking positivity while negative emotions or thoughts still exist tears your emotions apart and causing more pain.

How to harness your innate positivity:

Acceptance of negative emotions:
Negative emotions never go away until you fully accept them, perceiving them as part of yourself makes you whole and allows the experience to achieve its purpose and leave.

Unlearning their causes
With unlearning comparison, judgment, high standards, perfectionism, self-doubt, and over-criticism negativity has no means to find its way to your heart. There is nothing that is impossible, no doubting voice in your mind, no feeling of inferiority due to comparison with others, no inapplicable high standards that is more disappointing than encouraging, no biting yourself for your old mistakes.

Allowing positivity:
By unlearning the causes behind negativity, removing yourself from being around negative people and acceptance of our negative emotions that arises from time to time you are liberating your trapped positive energy. It becomes much easier to see the brighter side of everything. And you can resume your child-like positivity.

Thank you :)

Thanks for this! Needed the reminder. Resteemed

I am glad you liked it. From time to time we feel down that we might compromise our authenticity for feeling positive. The pressure that is put on us makes us hurry to feel positive. We simply need to accept our situations from our hearts to allow genuine positivity to arise. Thank @whatamidoing for stopping by. It is great pleasure for me. :)

Refreshing. Fake positivity is way more draining than negativity - because it is void of energy!

I love this piece. Your lists of causes of negativity and specific things to unlearn is really thoughtful and clear. Happiness has to come from the heart for it to really shine! Thanks for this
