Stunning Beauty of paradoxical contrasts

image

That big snow covered mountain, is in fact a gigantic volcanic glacier, with freezing cold snow all around it and a hot water lake on its peak.
Amazing... isn’t it?

This giant thing is wrecking hot from inside and freezing cold from outside.
What a paradox ! And what a contrast !

image

This place is all about contrast and paradox.

image

This is Waiouru, New Zealand.

image

Waiouru is located somewhere in the center of North Island, of New Zealand

image

Waiouru is halfway between Auckland and Wellington.

image

I took these photographs while coming from Wellington towards Auckland, by road.

image

This place has a unique beauty, due to its contrasting landscape.

image

Crisp white gigantic volcanic glaciers standing on damp and dark brown lands, are making an acute and strictly contrast in the color and texture of the landscape and the feel and wibe of this atmosphere.

image

This acute contrast reminds me of the yin-yang balance in this universe.

image

Everything in this universe has value. All polarities and differences are valuable and important.

image

Men and women; day and night; white and black; light and darkness; masculinity and femininity.

image

Now I am going to reveal another contrast of this stunning place. This is military area.
New Zealand army does military trainings in this area. You can see military tanks in this area.

image

In the arms of this beautiful nurturing nature, you can see military tanks, with the ammunition to kill.

Ability to nurture, and the ability to kill, what a striking contrast !

One may appear nice, the other may look evil, but the reality is that, to live in this world, we need both of these skills. Our world would go out of balance, if we lacked one of these polar-opposit abilities.

image

This place is a natural visual, physical and practical, manifestation of the yin-yang theory.

Thanks for liking.

Beautiful pictures and even more beautiful and brilliant writing. Similar to your post lots of contrast in wrtting. You managed to explain a very complicated scenario in beautiful words.

Thank you for appreciation.

Woah how epic! Is this near oakune? Or tongariro? I loved the north island so much, I think about it every day! I’ll be back soon I know it :)

I wonder if you can go in the hot lake ontop unless it’s tooo hot? I jumped in a glacial lake at the top of a mountain at Milford sound (Gertrude saddle) and almost died ha! It had just thawed out and was about 0 degrees, we all made it out though :) not again!

It’s near Tongariro. That big glacier in these photographs is in Tongariro National Park, that is where the skiing club is.
These photographs are taken from Waiouru, which is a military area.

It is not allowed to swim in the lake on top. It’s too hot , and according to news reports its temperature is consistently increasing.

I really love your picture, beautiful place.

Thank you for appreciation.
