Throwback Thursday: LOVE on TOP at Osmeña Peak ❤️ 🏔

in #philippines7 years ago (edited)

Hi Steemians!

It's been a while since my last travel post. Before 2017 ends, let me share to you one of my travel adventures for the year.
This Valentines 2017, my boyfie and I chose to celebrate this day in a not-so-typical way. Instead of eating in a fancy resto or watching movies, we had an outdoor adventure together at OSMEÑA PEAK!

Finally found the picture-perfect spot

OSMEÑA PEAK is one of the most famous trekking spots in Cebu, Philippines. Located in the municipality of Dalaguete, it is considered the highest point of the province with 1,013 meters above sea level. So, it is normal that this place is cooler than the other areas in Cebu.

What to prepare?

  • Camera
  • Scarf
  • Jacket
  • Hat or cap
  • Leggings/Shorts (I don't recommend wearing shorts if you go there very early in the morning. It is cold and windy at the peak)
  • Drinking Water
  • Extra shirt or towel (for sweat)
  • Non-slip footwear

How to get there?

From Cebu South Bus Terminal, ride a bus route "Oslob-Bato" and ask the conductor for you to be dropped off in Dalaguete for Osmeña Peak. Since Osmeña Peak is a well-known travel destination, it wouldn't be difficult to find the place.

Cebu to Dalaguete bus travel would be around a 3-hr ride, of course depending on the traffic.

At the bus stop, there are habal-habal drivers offering a ride to Osmeña Peak. One motorcycle can accommodate 2 passengers. (Some drivers even try to bring 3 passengers!)

The driver will just drop you at the base of the mountain and can wait for you there (Php200-back and forth). There was an entrance fee of Php20. If you want to have a guide, they are also waiting at the entrance. As for us, we opted to do the guideless trek. We just followed the trail.

The PEAK

There were parts of the trail that are steep. It is not good to go there when it's raining. The path will become muddy and slippery.

When we reached the top, it was still dim, but the sun was slowly showing up. It was super cold! Jacket and scarf were not enough. I had goosebumps all over my body! Maybe I'm not just used to cold temperature.

Welcome to Osmeña Peak!

There were lots of tourists and campers on the main summit. You had to wait for your turn to take a pose on that picture perfect spot.

Need to wait for that picture-perfect spot

Photobombers overload

Picture-Perfect PEAK

We tried another peak with lesser people. After passing the campers busy eating their breakfast and getting through the mini jungle, we reached the base.

Hopefully there are no snakes around

It was more challenging to reach the top. This required your climbing skills, both your hands and feet needed to do the work.

The climb

Finally, when we reached the top, we had the most picture-perfect spot! I can only see two other people enjoying the sight. I can say this Valentine trip was all worth it. I got to enjoy the view and at the same time the company.
