OPTICAL ILLUSION | What you see is NOT always what you get | Are you up for the challenge???

in #philippines6 years ago (edited)

Have you ever find yourself caught in the middle of something that appears as a regular photo of an object, person, animal and the likes, but has a deeper correspondence when given a closer and tighter look? Such photos can be mind blowing most of the time (just had my experience a while ago haha), while being very interesting on the other hand. Technically, that is called OPTICAL or VISUAL illusion.

Weekend (UAE) is about to end in a few hours (awwts) hehe. I have accomplished all household chores, personal errands and work reports early to have more time in preparing my next blog, by the way THAT'S A POSITIVE IMPACT THAT STEEMIT HAS BROUGHT ON MY DAILY ROUTINES.... so to all Steemians... STEEM ON! While looking around and contemplating on what to share with you, I have received a message from my sister-in-law and did caught my attention and was indeed challenged for a moment. After struggling............... YES, honestly I did struggled in figuring out the answer so I thought of sharing it with you and let's see how fast you can get it. I got puzzled, my phone has been turned to all directions, my eyes literally rolled out a bit haha, coz I have been wanting to get the answer without looking for clues in the comment box.

Before giving you the challenge, let's get something technical out of it, at least we're learning while enjoying right? 😉

What is OPTICAL or VISUAL ILLUSION???
It is an illusion caused by the visual system and characterized by a visual percept that appears to differ from reality (Wikipedia). We can simply define it also as one which shows images that differ from normal reality. Personally, I can define it by quoting it as “what you see is not always what you get”.

Illusions come in variety, though it is often difficult to categorize them because the underlying cause is not clear, though a proposal on their classification was made by Richard Gregory.

3 Main Classes of Optical Illusion (proposed by Richard Gregory)
Physical - due to the physical environment (common effect is, something appears near when it's actually not)

Physiological - arise in the eye or visual pathway (common example is the afterimage effect or negative effect, when you stare on a particular image for 20-60 seconds then look at a white wall or backgorund, also by closing one's eyes while tilting the head a negative image will appear)

Cognitive – result of unconscious inferences (the image being portrayed forms another image that we can easily perceive than the original image we ought to appreciate, sometimes a conscious effort is needed to identify the hidden image different to what you can easily perceive on the first look)

Those are bits and pieces of informations that I hope adds on to your knowledge... Now let's do the real thing... let's do the practical application of what we have just learned. The photo I will be sharing with you is an example of a Cognitive Illusion.

Inhale ..... Stare ..... Keep quiet if you got the answer! 😂😂😂

If you happened to come across this challenge your silence is much appreciated haha peace out! 😉
