JEEPNEY only in the PHILIPPINES

So Hello Everyone,

In the Philippines our main transportation is called Jeepney if you don't own any private Vehicle.
So this is how Jeepney looks

Way back in old times Jeepneys were originally made from U.S. military jeeps left over from World War II. It's A combination word of Jeep (Vehicle) and Knee because people who rides in jeepney are seated so close together and making our knees meets with one another.
So since Philippines was not able to prepare our road infrastructure and We do really have small roads that makes jeepney more convenient than bus.
A jeepney sometimes can accommodate a minimum of 16 Headcount or 32 depends on how big the size of the jeepney. Now a days jeepneys do evolve on their looks such as this one.

Jeepney has assigned route per destination. Unlike taxis they can use any roads to travel just making sure they don't violate any traffic rules and they can reach the area where the customer wants to be.

Postive and Negative of Having Jeepney as transportation:

Positive

  1. 24/7 availability
  2. Cheaper Fare Compared to Taxis and Bus
  3. It will take you right in front of your destination (Lesser Walk to do)
  4. Accessible anytime

Negative

  1. Safety - Sometime we do have abusive passengers and drivers. -> They don't follow Jeepney stop areas.
  2. Pollution - Since we have large numbers of Jeepney operators that means we have more vehicle on the road adding pollution
  3. Low Maintenance - Since jeepneys are very affordable our jeepney drivers cannot afford to have their vehicle do all the neccessary things to maintain the performance of their jeepneys. Such as Change oil.

I am writing this because today our Government Just declared no classes at all level due to transportation strike.
I understand the value of why our drivers would like to demand for Fare increase but We do hope they also consider the impact of their request. For the past few months our Gasoline prices did not extremely go up that would trigger fare increase and plus would our driver consider their passengers safety after they will be granted with their fare increase request. Will they listen and take consideration of running a decent jeepney that won't harm children when they ride their vehicle because some jeepneys are already rusty and the chairs are not reliable that it can carry many people as much as possible. Will our jeepney drivers also consider having their engine check, Do the routine change oil without waiting for their jeeps not to run anymore before they have it check.

BTW, for those of you curious on how to we pay our jeepney fare. unlike bus we need to tap or pay before we can completely go in. With jeepneys we just pass it over to the next person seated to us until it gets to the driver and your change will also be pass along. So Honesty is the Best Policy.

So is it worth it to support the Fare Adjustment increase? or Is it worth the fight to complaint as well?
