Parol (Christmas Lantern)
Hello friends, christmas is fast approaching, so beforehand, I would like to greet you a very Merry christmas.
Parol or christmas lantern are probably the most iconic symbol of philippines christmas and it's most love by many. with different vibrant color, dancing and swaying colorfully as wind blows, makes it more festive feeling.
I remember making it as high school project in T.H.E. (the home economics). making use of some indegenous product made of barks of trees and recycled plastics then my teacher will rate it in give me grades according to my christmas project.
when the "ber" months comes, as early as September, Filipinos starts to countdown for christmas. they begin to put up christmas lanterns, christmas trees and decorates their house, some even singing christmas carols.
I miss christmas in the philippines. i miss the christmas lanterns, the christmas carols from children, the monito/monita (kris kringle), the christmas party, the foods for festive season and i miss my family so much during christmas.
Sadly to say, we are not going be able to go home this christmas, (tickets are crazy expensive). but surely we are going to be on the skype on christmas in philippine time.
The spirit of christmas is very much alive in our heart and in our family, though we are all miles apart, we are always connected especially christmas.
Happy christmas everyone. Thanks for dropping in
