Observing the growing financialization of cryptoassets at a dizzying pace even amid a bear market, the notion of "tokenize everything" is evolving into a vision of "financialization of everything".

"Financialization is an economic paradigm where the conversion of real economic value into financial instruments and their exchange within the financial system comes to dominate economic institutions, activity and value creation." (Geta Krippner , 2018).

The first cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, was originally a network architected to be outside the centralized financial and monetary system; but in an open and free market, even the traditional financial services industry could not be barred from co-opting the technology - as long as it makes business sense. "A parallel financial system is forming outside the incumbent financial system, and institutional investors are 'financializing' it as they enter." (Caitlin Long, 2018)

As indication of this financialization, we see some of the largest institutional investors and financial institutions develop various derivatives of cryptoassets - recasting them to exchangeable financial instruments that can be traded, invested on and ultimately managed through the existing financial system.

Further accelerating this rapid financialization is the high regard on the critical role of security tokens in the future of finance, complemented by the policy frameworks being developed by regulators designed to authorize the issuance of cryptoassets as lawfully registered securities or financial instruments.
