DOUBLE RAINBOW

Different cultures have their own interpretation in seeing a rainbow. Feng shui which is also being practice here in the Philippines, it says that double rainbow is a symbol of transformation in your life, the first rainbow being the symbol of the material world and the second one being the spiritual side. In the Christian world, a rainbow is a sign of a covenant between the Creator and man. There are lots of stories to tell about a rainbow, even putting some meaning for each color. In this post, I am going to share with you some photos of a double rainbow that I was able to captured recently.

This was my first time seeing a double rainbow and I really stop for a moment to enjoy and appreciate this phenomenon. A single rainbow maybe taken for granted by some people but seeing a double rainbow is really fascinating.

I teach science to elementary kids and I used to explain to them why the rainbow appears in the sky but when there is a rainbow I am still fascinated by its beauty. For me, this is one of the most beautiful phenomena that nature has to offer.

I know that the sun will rise up in a moment and will surely affect how the rainbow will look like or it may disappear already, so I took another shot.

In this photo, the first rainbow was still visible.

A rainbow appears with the combination of reflection, refraction, and dispersion of light from the water droplets in the sky, so when the sun starts to rise, the reflection will be affected and may change how the rainbow looks like. And after a few minutes, I noticed that the first rainbow disappeared and apparently the movement of the sun was already affecting how the light was being reflected.

From this photo, it seems that the two rainbows merged together.

I captured these photos last week, Wednesday 16th of May 2018 while I was taking a walk near the Ayala malls circuit in Makati City. I did not plan on posting these photos since I know that these images does not have an excellent quality. I used my Vivo 1606 smartphone to capture these images, just an affordable smartphone. I wish I had a high-end camera to be able to obtain quality photos, but I hope this has been interesting and informative for you and I'd like to thank you for reading.
