The Magnificient Laswitan Lagoon “Ocean Waterfalls” – Cortes, Surigao del Sur
Rock formations and lagoon
The Laswitan Falls and Lagoon is actually a unique 20-foot rock creation located near the coast of Cortes, Surigao del Sur. This environmental piece creates three natural basin like structure where you can swim and dive and so that when the surf becomes high, the huge waves would stream and spill into the main basin on the other side, thus creating a waterfall effect.
The lagoon below the rock formation is so big that it can fit up to 200 or more people. Travelers visiting the place can dip and swim in these pools and get themselves splashed by the sea water coming from the other side. The lagoon has a deep part which swimmers can enjoy but there is also a shallow area that other people can dip in.
You can also dive in the cliff in the right side of the lagoon and in the main basin/pool which is the main swimming area is protected with a rope with buoys on it to restrict people from going near the rock formations.
What makes life in Laswitan, sweet?
It is when you wait for the next big splash and go through the same sensation and wonder as each wave brings on the excitement that surges to joy.

How to Get There:
If you are coming from Tandag City, take the bus to Surigao City and stop in Cortes or you can ride jeepneys with signboard going to Cortes directly. The trip would take 1 hour. Ride the habal-habal from Cortes town proper to Laswitan. This would take 15 minutes on rough road.

• Open Cottage Rental – Php 200
• Life Jacket- Php 20/hour
• Salbabida – Php 20/whole-day
Note: It is best to go in laswitan during December to February “laswit” during those months are high.
