It is now September and Christmas songs are now being played in my Country

in #philippines7 years ago

My country, the Philippines has the earliest celebration of Christmas. A predominant Catholic country and the only Christian country in southeast Asia, the Philippines just loved the occasion as a major event in the calendar. Most filipinos treasure the Christmas season because of the experience that it gives for every Filipino child.

Ten days before Christmas there is a mass that is called a "Rooster's Mass" where an early morning mass was held throughout the country where Catholic churches held mass for the faithful and not so faithful. So after the mass they would enjoy buying native foods that were sold alongside the streets which are indeed delicious like the rice cakes and its variants.

Come the christmas day everyone is just happy and all are in their best clothes. Children goes to their godmother and godfathers to collect their gifts of money in small envelopes now in Chinese design motif. If a child sometimes have many godmothers and godfathers and elders like relatives, then that child can really rake a small fortune for him/herself.

It's just a season of giving where everyone is kind to one another. I remember overhearing someone for Christmas to last much longer because everyone is well-dressed with their best new clothes and are receiving or given with something like money, plus there are foods, delicious foods that every household prepared just for the Christmas occasion.

We can now hear the tunes of Christmas and we will hear them more often as we get near to the December 25th date then the celebration goes into its summit until everyone would prepare for another fun celebration of the new year.

Wow, some people in the US humorously complain when radio stations start playing Christmas songs in November, let alone in September! I didn't realize it was such an important holiday in the Philippines.

Ha ha, it's different in here because it is a season of giving, kindness, family reunions, delicious foods. These things are excitingly awaited on that special day.

Excitingly awaited for over three months! Haha.

That's quite the build up!

Next thing you will see christmas lights and lanterns on every homes ha ha.

Great. Thanks for sharing. I'm starting to follow you.
