Why I became a psychology major

in #philippines6 years ago (edited)

Hi I'm Ax Huecas and I think I should introduce myself first before doing anything haha! So here I am, I hope you can be my friend here on steem :D

So who the heck am I!? I am Ax Hendrix M. Huecas and I am a 4th year psychology major in the Philippines and will be graduating this april 2018. I want to be open to you guys and I want you all to be my bestfriend that's why I want to tell you my story so that you will know me more.

As a kid, I had a rough time growing up because I was traumitized by my father; he would beat me everyday for no apparent reason and I remember when there was a flood at our area, he left me alone inside the house while the water was flowing inside the house. As a kid what did I do? I reached out to my neighbors and I called out my friend jb but he was not there. When my dad came home and saw that my clothes were wet, he was furious and he beat me up to the point where he grabbed my tako (tagalog for cue stick) and he hit me with it until it broke. Where was my mother? my mother was an ofw, and she was in japan at that time.

My mother had the same fate with my father. My mom went to japan because she was a battered wife. She was also traumatized because my father would always beat her up whenever he comes home after losing at the casino. So my mother flew to japan, then when she got home, she took the advantage that my father was not at home and brought me to bulacan.

From there, my mother gave me the life that I didn't had with my father, even though my mother is a single parent, she did really well raising me. She gave me everything that I want and needed and she was a great provider and mother all at the same time. I grew up loving my father and not hating him because my mother always told me to love my father and to never hate him because he's still my father. But when I grew up, I saw the situation that he's in, and I saw that my grandmother was still feeding my father. My father doesn't have a real job and the one providing for my father's family is my grandmother.

I was glad to have my mother raise me to become an independent person and now that I took psychology, I understand people more and help people especially kids that have been traumatized because aside from I can relate from them, I now have the knowledge and skills to help those people.

So why did I take psychology? I took psychology because I wanted to help people with their mental health. And because I got traumatized, I wanted to help people get over or reduce their problems mentally. Even though I haven't graduated yet, my volunteering work on 7 cups and to my church really helped me in my skills and in my life. I've always wanted to help people with their lives and it really makes me feel good that I can help someone in need.

If you have any problems and If you have something that you want to talk about, I'm here for you. I can be your counselor :) I can also be your friend if you want :D

So that's me everyone! I hope I can your friend here on steemit and may you live your life to the fullest. :Dimage1-5.jpeg
