Pewdiepie's loses his dog Maya to old age
I've always enjoyed Pewdiepie and it wasn't that long ago that I recruited a few people from here and other places to help him in his follower war with some Indian media company. Pewds eventually lost that battle but it was fun for a while.
I've always found him seriously funny, inventive, and it has been a lot of fun seeing his channel evolve over the years. It all used to be rather silly gaming streams but as he gets older he is more focused on more adult topics but with a silly twist of a man-child that refuses to grow up. As whacky as his channel is I think that he and I have a lot in common: We are both not overly concerned with fashion, we both like anime a lot, we both get a real kick out of memes, and both of us are a little bit socially awkward but can really act a fool if the moment strikes. On thing that we really have in common is that we really love our dog or in his situation, multiple dogs.

Felix's older dog, Maya, has been a part of the show in the background for as long as I can remember. He was always including them in the shows and when he and his wife went out of the house for anything they tended to bring both of the dogs with them as if they were children. This is the same way that I operate with my own doggo Nadi, and I have missed out on quite a few vacations and outings with friends in neighboring cities because since I live alone with the dog, if she can't go with me and it is an overnight something or other, I'm not going to go. I guess you could say that I am perfectly ok with that because I quite like staying at home with my dog.
Anyway, this isn't about me.
Pewdiepie is normally a very silly person and rarely gets emotional about anything he talks about on his show, but in one of his latest YouTube posts, you can tell that he is fighting back tears while he talks about how Maya had died after quite a long battle with a variety of health issues.

I used to really get a kick out of Edgar and Maya's involvement in his videos because just like all dogs, they have no idea that their Dad is one of the biggest YouTubers in the world. They would always wander into his shots and he would not get upset with them, but instead involved them in it.
Maya lost an eye with a cat when she was young but she recovered very well and I don't think she ever mourned the loss of her eye. Once she recovered from the injury it was like nothing ever happened.

I have never really wanted to have a Pug but I do like them when I see them. They are normally quite silly and energetic dogs and when they snore it is one of the cutest things. Of course I believe this can be problematic for the breed because they breathe so loud because it is actually a genetic defect that can negatively affect their ability to breathe, sometimes to their own detriment.
You may recall that when Nadi needed to fly with me that Shih-Tzus were on the list of banned breeds because all snub-nosed dogs have an increased risk of breathing issues when pressurized at altitude. It is my understanding that this is more so of a problem with Pugs.
I am quite certain that Pewdiepie took extra precautions in all health aspects of Maya's life because according to what I have read, Pugs generally live 12 - 15 years. Maya made it to 17.
I found this video very touching because even if you are not a fan of Pewdiepie, you are likely aware of the fact that he is normally very animated and silly and this is not the case in this video here where he looks like he struggled to get through the speech he gave.
I worry about future me having to deal with the same pain because Nadi is 10 now and I know that we are on the "back 9" as far as her health and life is concerned. I was talking to someone the other afternoon and they said "the only thing worse than going through the pain of losing your dog is never having the dog in the first place."
I totally agree with this sentiment.
It sure was a lot of pain for Pewdiepie after 17 years together. His love is reflected in those extra two years as you say.
On the other hand I'm sure Pewdiepiemust have a photo album in your memory where you shared many moments together.
The highest price we pay for loving is losing. One day we will lose what we love be it pets, family, friends and even ourselves we will be gone and that will be inevitable in time. Stopping to think about the moment usually causes terror and pain so it is best to save that pain for when the time comes but until it does not come make the most of your time with Nadi (as I am sure you always do).
In the end we will try to look back grateful for the time we were able to share with that being, satisfied that we did our best to enjoy them.
