Nico Was Injured

in #pets6 years ago

Poor Nico...we could tell something was troubling him last Tuesday. He was lying about more and licking his right front paw continuously. Upon closer inspection we found a hunk of flesh was missing on his foot pad!

Not sure how this happened. He did start a new doggie day camp the week before where they run and play a lot. He also takes many long walks on the beach, but that shouldn’t cause this?!

Then he stopped eating and seemed to have a fever on Wednesday, so we arranged to take the sweet boy to the vet. They said his symptoms indicated he might have an infection from the wound, and his blood work confirmed elevated white blood count. They bandaged up his paw and sent us home with antibiotics and anti inflammatory medications.

Lots of rest was prescribed for a few days.

But by Friday morning we could see improvement in his energy and enthusiasm for life!

By that evening we removed the bandage and the wound looked much healed. After doing nothing but rest for 3 days he was ready to do SOMETHING! A short walk down the beach seemed to restore his soul.

Looking back I think I caused his injury from playing fetch in a concrete parking lot. 😕 Lots of running and quick stops he made. Hindsight is 20/20...😬 we won’t play that game there any more. I’m just glad he’s better and back out in the beach! 🙏🏽

Woah. Its really safe to know Nico is back on his health and sure much stressed and play aimt needed depending on the environment .good treatment and quick recovery from a very strong dog that scale through what pain feels like.. dogs are really lovely and i missed how mine left me on tragic basis of an accident from a car. I am to blame for that but I won't forget the times we shared and his name was jerry..he sure was a great dog. Ythanks for sharing an experience from Nico..☺

What a sweet doge! Such personality! Is he a poodle?

The saddest part with pet injuries is how pathetic they look in their casts and bandages - like they just can't understand why this is happening to them. I'm glad he's through the worst of it now.

He should recover quickly!

Nico is such a sweet dog! I am happy he is okay now! In the last picture he looks happy and relaxed!
sending lots of love from me and Oscar!

cheers @steemed-open

How sweet! Thank you 🙏🏽

In all the pictures show his features as sad, except in the picture that was near the sea
He will be healed and return as he was
I also have a dog named ALUKA

He was a bit sad, sick and downtrodden this week as the photos reflect, but then enlivened outside at the shore. :)

Aluka is beautiful and looks full of happiness! Thanks for sharing. 🤗

It gladens my heart to hear that Nico is physiologically fit again...
Infections could be too deadly
Happy u discovered it on time.

You chose the right place to take this picture
Great photo

How glad that Nico recovered! We had a dog that looked like Nico ... we could not save her ... Health to all!

Nice must be good by now right!!
