We lost this beautiful boy this summer. I miss him so much! I really missed him at pie making time while getting ready for Christmas.

He would always come running if he heard us in the fruit drawer in the refrigerator...because we might be getting an apple out. I'm not sure how he knew the difference between the fruit drawer and the vegetable drawer, but he did. He LOVED apples! I never ate an apple by myself. I always shared chunks of it with him...even if that meant he was drooling all over my floor.

When I would make apple pies, he would lay right next to where I was working. He knew when I was finished peeling and cutting the apples that he was in for a treat. It was sad to look at the spot where he would lay while I was making pies and not see him there.

Well he sounds like he was a special dog! Sorry that he left that hole in your life!

·

He was very special. Thank you for your kind words.

In Roman times, mastiffs donned light armor and were sent after mounted knights.

·

My dog is part of my family.

So sorry, you can tell by looking at him he is a sweetheart!

·

Thank you! He was very sweet!

He was a beauty. Our family lost one this year too and Christmas isn't the same without 5 big dogs underfoot!

·

Thank you for your kind words. I'm sorry about your dog. They become part of the family.

@nat-expressions he was a beautiful boy, I am so sorry for your loss. I understand the way you feel 2 years ago we lost our 3 pets in a 3 month time span, our rottweiler loved watermelon he was 12 we lost him first then our cat had a stroke she was 21 the last one was our dachshund he was 14 and blind and I did not see him when I pulled in our gate, it was awful, I will never get over it. They are more than pets they become a family member.

·

I'm so sorry that you lost all three so close together. It's very hard. We lost our kitty a few months after losing our dog. They do become part of the family.

@nat-expressions Thank you, I have always wondered if our cat had the stroke because she missed our rotty. They were good buddies. And now you say you lost you kitty after your dog, were they close?

Yes...my kitty and my dog were close. I'm sure that she missed him.

@nat-expressions it reminds me of when someone loses a spouse of many years and then they pass not long after. Not sure that is what happened,I just find it odd they both passed not long after our dogs passed. :(

It does remind me of that too. My kitty got very sick. Maybe she lost her battle faster because she missed him.

I will check this out! Thank you very much!!

Really? Apples? With my daughter's dog it is bananas. My heart breaks for you. He is beautiful. We lost our Shepherd, Ana, just a few short years before my husband died and it gave him some comfort to think that she would be there waiting for him on the other side. I miss both of them more than words can express

Yes...apples. A bite for me...a bite for him...a bite for me...a bite for him. I'm so very sorry about your Ana and your husband. Yes, I agree, it is comforting to know that our animals will get to see us again.
