Update on "lucky boy"

"Lucky Boy" was brought in as what I previously described as the "last emergency case we could take on" and we are happy to report that he has made a full recovery and has been released back to where we found him. It is unfortunate that we can't find him a better place to be than living outdoors but it is the best we can do and with his horrible head wound cleaned and sewn up he is almost certainly going to live a better life.

When we discovered him (or when he was pointed out to us by a local) he was in a really bad state with a relatively massive head wound that had gotten infected pretty badly.

After earning his trust with some food over the course of a week, it was easy for us to transport him in order to get him the treatment that he desperately needed. He was extremely friendly during his time with us and even though he may not be aware of it, he likely would have died if someone hadn't intervened.

he is now looking a lot better except for the obvious fact that he has a rather funny looking ear on one side.

Our intervention has been noticed by the local area we picked him up from and the neighbors, who are unlikely to fully look after him, spoke to us and we think they will be doing some level of feeding of him now that he doesn't look as diseased as he did before. This is the tragic reality of Thai street dogs, the ones that need help the most are the least likely to be helped by the residents. This is not to say that the Thai people do not care, it just isn't an important part of the culture and feral homeless dogs are simply a part of day-to-day life.

Although we will check in on him from time to time, his future is ultimately up to the area he is based in and a bit of luck.
