TWO YELLOW STRAWFLOWERS. (Xerochrysum Bracteatum) Please click to enlarge......and Thank You for viewing.

This is my entry for @yellowflowerday ; which is one of the contests initiated and organized by @adrianobalan and @sardrt called, @petals

Strawflowers (Xerochrysum Bracteatum) are also known as Everlasting flowers. They are native to Australia and are part of the Asteraceae family. They are characterized by their glossy, papery bracts which resemble petals and their green, leafy foliage.

These perennials grow in many areas which include rainforest margins to deserts and also subalpine areas. Insects such as butterflies, moths, hoverflies, native bees, small beetles and grasshoppers regularly visit the flower heads for their food value.

Over the years, strawflowers have become very popular commercially and the cut flower industry has enjoyed the benefits of the sturdy long stemmed forms of the flower. Cultivation has produced a wonderful mix of colours which include white, bronze and purple shades.

Back in the 70ties these flowers were used in dried bouquets. Kind of fashion thing back than. I remember we had them in the garden, my mother used them to make the bouquets which were on the kitchen table for years. haha

Yes......I remember them well @stranded. The dried arrangements looked good until the dust settled on them. (lol) But I really love their range of colours and beautiful shapes. Many thanks for your visit and support.
