The Petals Collection : Clerodendron ugandese / Blue Glorybower

It is a spectacular shrub native to tropical Africa, 1-3 m tall, with ovate leaves, bluish green on the top, lighter and more tomentose on the lower part of the plant. The flowers, which seem to have concentrated in the petals all the shades of the blue, purple and dark blue, have long protruding stamens, bloom from spring to autumn in terminal panicles. Semi-evergreen, it can reach 2,50-3 meters in height and 2 in width. As for its rusticity, know that it thrives best where the temperature does not fall below zero or just but, if the summer has been long and hot and the soil is well drained, it can survive fleeting frosts up to - 12.2, but losing the aerial part and then driving back to spring. However, it is not worth it: there are many other plants to experiment with greater happiness, if you live in a harsh winter climate! On the other hand, if you live in a mild climate or have a veranda or a bright hallway to house it in the winter, well, then abandon yourself to its amazing bloom! Love the half shade or the scorching sun, and the fertile soil, cool in summer but well drained.
