Sing Us A Song, Piano Man

"Sing us a song, you're the piano man. . . sing us a song tonight. . . now we're all in the mood for a melody, and you've got us feeling alright"- Billy Joel "Piano Man"

A look on the media's influence today:

The times of this age are really quite troubling and can fill many of us with melancholy, and we have a classic song like Billy Joel's Piano Man, which is relatable to even the finest degree. We live in a world hidden by media and secured by bureaucrats, it is hard to discern the truth from lies designed to control how you think towards certain articles like political figures, to the morals taught in the household.

Discipline has had a downward spiral for some time with modern parents of the 21st century worrying about political correctness and being charged with either domestic abuse or a cause to bring in child protective services because you "slapped" your child because he/she was lying about breaking a vase, so instead parents hope that their kids will just straighten out on their own. This creates a lack of respect and willingness to obey authority and reflects on relationships with teachers, a student that doesn't feel he/she doesn't have to do any work, and in the future can never sustain a job because they has no respect for the supervisor in charge of them.

Since kids are being brought up in a society determined by media and public appearances they will never properly understand personal integrity and the necessary qualities of character and will essentially become puppets of the media.

Referencing a classic song like Piano Man is all good and fun, but it's really a powerful song, people feel it, it always brings a smile to their face. But why? Is it because it reminds them of a time before the media became so influential that the so-called public opinion of the US 2016 Election was guaranteed to be Hillary R. Clinton's win? Yet it wasn't. Could it be that the media has lost their foothold because people are waking up to the strings and green that's behind the scenes? Maybe, but it's not enough. People care too much about what they look like when we should be caring about what we know, what we will learn, and what we should be instructing our posterity so that they don't get caught up in the media's net, which is a parasite, waiting for the chance to build its support from the youth of tomorrow.
