10 SIMPLE WAYS TO BE MORE CONSISTENT PERSONALLY AND PROFESSIONALLY

in #personaldevelopment7 years ago

Consistency is the stuff Miracles are made of. If you keep an end goal in mind, all it takes is consistent action in order to make it happen.

Simple, right?

Then why is it soooo hard for people to continue taking the actions they should- WHEN they should - when that's the only way to reach their aims in life?

It's because subconsciously, your body craves consistency itself and your EXISTING consistent behavior is already set. There hasn't been enough time for your body to recognize the NEW consistent pattern (Most studies say it can take anywhere from 21 days to 6 months for a new habit to form.)

So Here Are TEN Ways To Be More Consistent (Plus A Bonus At The End)!

  1. START WITH A SPECIFIC AREA IN YOUR LIFE. The easiest example and yet the hardest thing to start with is your body. Once your physical body gets engaged in a habit, it's tough to break, but the act of suggesting a NEW Habit is what makes things tricky. This is the same if you want to try a new hobby or create a new chore schedule at home - whatever it is, make sure you start with just 1 specific area in your life so you can avoid overwhelm.

  2. COMMIT TO BEING CONSISTENT. Make sure you make it as easy as possible because expectation and too much difficulty and effort lead to disappointment and failure. Give yourself the chance to win each day so you can reinforce your commitment to consistency.

  3. PLAN OUT YOUR TASKS. Plan for a week at a time (if that's easier for you. You can also do every 3 days) and commit to having the same routine every day. Knowing your daily tasks are the fertilizer of HABIT. Neville Goddard says, 'Through habit, an action becomes easier'. And let's be honest: one of the reasons consistency is difficult is because the task itself seems difficult. After a while the mental weights that are out of shape get worn out. But planning to do the same action every day for a week is an awesome momentum hack. Just take the easy road at first.

  4. WRITE DOWN YOUR GOALS. Grant Cardone always says to write down a to do list AS SOON AS YOU WAKE UP and RIGHT BEFORE BED. It allows your priorities to reveal themselves by what your mind naturally repeats as a task to do and the act of writing imprints those goals into your subconscious every time you write them down. Powerful Stuff!

  5. CHECK OUT EMOTIONALLY. Emotions can warp your perception of reality, so it's important that you keep count of your tasks, follow your written goals, and deal primarily with facts until your habits are second nature. If you're not prepared to cope with your emotional fluctuations with a solid plan and a way to stay emotionally neutral, you could exhaust yourself and quit before you have a chance to see any results.

  6. STOP. MULTITASKING. Neville Goddard also says ' A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways'. Pull yourself together and do one thing at a time! Once everything is second nature, you won't need as much of your active short-term memory to complete the same tasks. So until your habit becomes more efficient, it's important NOT to multitask.

  7. DON'T BE PERFECT. Imperfect action beats Perfect inaction EVERY time! Plus, accepting imperfection allows you to make an honest assessment about where you are so that you can make all the teensy-tiny tweaks that improve the quality of the habit you're forming by incrementally boosting your skill level.

  8. THINK OF THE PROCESS - NOT THE OUTCOME. Earlier I mentioned that expectation leads to disappointment and if your actions are leading to disappointment, you will surely quit. Once you have in mind the result you want and your path to get there (ie your daily repeated steps), THAT's when you let go of the result you originally intended to get. This is where Faith comes in. You have to take those daily actions and do what you need to do -even without immediate fulfillment or any evidence that your outcome is being fulfilled - because depending on your patience level, thinking of the outcome and why it's not here NOW may make you give up before the actions have a chance to manifest in your life.

  9. LIVE IN THE MOMENT. - Mooji says 'Think To Yourself 'I Have No Time''. It's when you realize that the time is only NOW and there IS no later time there is only the evolution of THIS moment that you will understand the importance of Faith, the importance of Immediate Action, and the importance of staying as Present as possible. Straying from this moment will only hurt you by delaying progress.

  10. GET ORGANIZED. It's easier to maintain a routine if you know where all your tools are and how to get to them without having to waste energy rummaging through anything. Even if you work online, for example, it could be as easy as creating a folder for your content, another folder to inspiration, another folder for great examples of your own work to model (which all strengthen your work) and so on and so forth. Even Vision Boards are forms of organization because the reminder of the goal is available at a glance instead of spending that precious energy in dream mode, making your energy more efficient. When things are organized, it's easier to get into flow without any obstructions to break your focus.

So Those Are 10 Simple Ways To Be More Consistent! I Hope You Found This Valuable And Helpful & That You're On Your Way To Being More Consistent!

P.S. BONUS: GET A BUDDY. Having someone to keep you accountable makes all the difference in the world when you want to be consistent. Consistency at its core is all about accountability to yourself, so being accountable to someone AND being held accountable BY someone is a great way to jump-start that habit and reinforce it two-fold!
