Wisdom does not make us perfect: The LORD became angry with Solomon because his heart had turned away from the LORD, the God of Israel. 1 Kings 11:9
The gift of wisdom brings man closer to God but does not make men perfect like him, every wise man is at some point selfish, and a demonstration of this was King Solomon, the wisest man of his time, who during his life took many women, some of them foreigners, and during their old age, the Bible tells us, he allowed them to worship their foreign gods:
"King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women besides Pharaoh's daughter—Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittites. They were from nations about which the LORD had told the Israelites, ´You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods.´ Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love" 1 Kings 11:1-2.
The sin of lust seems a common sin to all men, even David sinned by taking Solomon's mother as his wife.
And it was because of this that God was very angry with Solomon, because he had also appeared to him twice: "The LORD became angry with Solomon because his heart had turned away from the LORD, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice. Although he had forbidden Solomon to follow other gods, Solomon did not keep the LORD'S command" 1 Kings 11:9-10.
And the Bible tells us that this sin of Solomon, idolatry moved by lust, was what caused the Kingdom of Israel to divide into two. Solomon governed his kingdom with righteousness, taught, and wrote valuable books, but wisdom did not accompany him in his old age, perhaps he made the decision to have many foreign women for political reasons, but this history teaches us that no matter how good we are, this does not free us from error. That is why before God only humility of heart remains.
