Requiem for love
On the boulevards of the seared lovers heart
Are shreds of euphoria,when two lovers trod the path
That same heart now harbours the lovers hate or so it seems
Afloat the sea of crimson,the lover sings a sullen dirge
Solemn and slow, slower about the exchanged vows now at large.
Apparitions haunt the lovers mind
In scenes, in spoken words,in memories they long to leave behind
Horror to the hollowed pits that used to be eyes now by tears dimmed
Loneliness consoles, her cold hands in embrace allays the lovers fears
The cold nights in grief,toughens the lovers hide
Till impervious they are to cupid thrusts, and the voice of reason they heed
Then love is deceased,and on his tombstone are scrawled the known requiems
That by the gleam of the night,the lovers in tangled skein may see to discern.
