Santa Ana Pueblo
Due to its secluded and protected location, the Pueblo of Santa Ana was historically one of the least visited of the New Mexico pueblos. The Spanish arrived in the area in the 1540's and the Tamaya submitted to their rule in 1598.
It is then that they were assigned Saint Anne as the tribe's patron saint.
During the Pueblo Revolt of 1680, the Tamaiya joined their neighbors in driving the Spanish out, but were soon forced to flee into the Jemez Mountains upon the Spaniard's return in force. They were able to return to their ancestral lands in 1893, and have remained in the area since.
Though various epidemics reduced tribal numbers considerably in the 18th and 19th centuries, the tribe has managed to hold onto many customs. Though much of their income is derived from the Casino and resort facilities there, agriculture is still very important to the tribe, who raise cattle and grapes as well as producing traditional blue corn products, which they process in their own milling facility.

It's so beautiful to see how humble people are over there. I would love to visit Mexico again!
The Spaniards just took many resources from the Indians especially in Peru where lots of gold where extracted from the Mayans. @pinkspectre Iam glad that the Tamaiya just recuperated and now are thriving.
Very nice and lovely place pic you have updated here good one.

Interesting tidbit of history. It would be neat seeing their homes as depicted in the picture. It looks like they are built almost on top of one another up a graded incline. Could just be the angle of the photo though.
